Memento (2000)

Memento is a film about a man who has a short term memory loss and he is searching for the killer of his wife. He uses photographs and tattoos on himself to remember the events from the previous day. The begining starts with him taking a photo of a dead body and shaking the photo to develop it. Thw begining of the film starts at the end but the audience dosent know this.

The opening scene start from the ending of the film, with a close up of a hand holding a polaroid photograph. The way that opening sequence goes back in time shows that you started at the end of the film. Theres a photo of a corpse; there is blood everywhere this makes the audience wonder whos killed them and why theyve killed them, and why is he taking a photo of them. The music at the beginning is a string orchestra that gives an eerie effect.

Analysis of student work
The art work on the opening titles looks like the train lines which is the theme of the film. It fits well with the type of film. There is tension building music throughout making the opening sequence dramatic. There is a variety of shots. There is different stories introduced in the opening sequence which engage the audience and show a story line to the begining of the film.
